Whitewater Ranch

Whitewater Ranch is an organic blueberry farm located in Leaburg, Oregon approximately 25 miles east of eugene, and sits at around 700 ft elevation. The ranch resides along the McKenzie River with forested upland and agricultural habitat types, as well as the riparian habitat provided by Goose Creek (a tributary of the McKenzie River) which is the primary site of our research and restoration this Spring, in continuance of past ELP projects at the ranch. Whitewater Ranch currently produces organic blueberries and sustainable timber sales, with the land being historically used for cattle and timber production.

Whitewater Ranch is owned by Jim and Jane Russell and managed by Seth Morgan.

Following the Holiday Farm Fire of Fall 2020, stewardship of the ranch has shifted from eco-monitoring to eco-restoration. This includes but is not limited to forest replanting, riparian replanting, pollinator subsistence planting, and the creation of partnerships with local organizations (notably the University of Oregon’s Ponisio Lab) to assist in revitalizing the land’s ecosystem and restoring native habitat to support local wildlife and insect subsistence.
