The Ponisio Lab is located within the University of Oregon’s Institute of Ecology and Evolution, and is led by Dr. Lauren Ponisio. Dr. Ponisio is an entomologist and data scientist researching pollinator subsistence (primarily bees) in forested areas following harvest or fire, and has partnered with ELP and Whitewater Ranch to monitor the growth of native wildflowers planted in the upland region of the ranch among different (former) burn piles. This information will be used to further explore the relationships between wildfire disturbances, timber collection, riparian zones, success rates of wildflowers post-fire, and pollinator subsistence.
