Meet the Team

Adrienne Rizzo
Adrienne is from St. Petersburg, Florida and is pursuing a degree in environmental science with a minor in biology, expecting to graduate in spring of 2025. Adrienne chose to join Restoration and Research because of their interest in habitat restoration, community ecology, and wildlife biology. She hopes to use this experience to continue on to graduate school and eventually become a Restoration Ecologist working on carbon capture projects and pollution abatement through habitat restoration in wetland and coastal ecosystems.

Andreas Wuthrich
Andreas is from Mountain View, California and is pursuing a degree in environmental science with a minor in comic studies, expecting to graduate in the spring of 2025. Andreas chose to join Restoration and Research because of their interest in restoration and learning more about jobs in the field of environmental science. Andreas hopes to use this experience to get more experience that can be applied to future projects.

Caroline Taylor
Caroline is from Redwood City California, and is pursuing a degree in environmental studies with a minors in anthropology and food studies, expecting to graduate in the spring of 2024. Caroline chose to join Restoration and Research because she is passionate about pollinators and pollinator health, as well as a love for restoration projects and improving the overall health of the environment. Caroline hopes to use this experience in her pursuit for a career in environmental studies and applying what she has learned into practice within her community.

Charlie Niggley
Charlie is from Beaverton Oregon, and is pursuing a degree in environmental studies with a minor in food studies, expecting to graduate in spring of 2024. Charlie chose to join Restoration and Research due to his passion for pollinators and ecological restoration. Charlie hopes to use this experience to pursue a career in environmental studies and apply the skills he has learned in future ecological restoration projects.

Deanna Jacobs
Deanna is from Kent Island, Maryland, and is pursuing a degree in environmental studies with a minor in science communication, expecting to graduate in the spring of 2025. Deanna chose to join Restoration and Research because of her interest in restoration work and pollinators. Deanna hopes to use this experience to help her in a career in environmental conservation and applying this knowledge into future restoration work.

Delaney Wilson
Delaney is from Bend Oregon, and is pursuing a degree in environmental studies with a minor in earth sciences, expecting to graduate in summer of 2024. Delaney chose to join Restoration and Research because she is passionate about ecological restoration, pollinator health, and biodiversity. Delaney hopes to use this experience in her pursuit of a career in environmental studies and applying the skills she has learned in this experience to future practice in restoration projects.

Jade Koch
Jade is from Tinley Park, Illinois, and she is pursuing a degree in environmental science, expecting to graduate in the summer of 2024. Jade chose to join Restoration and Research because of her passion for habitat restoration, pollinator success, and supporting biodiversity. Jade hopes to use this experience and her further developed data collection, management, and scientific communication skills to lead future conservation and restoration projects in the Chicagoland area.

Kai Cooper
Kai is from Fairfax California, and is pursuing a degree in environmental studies with a minor in sustainable business, expecting to graduate in the spring of 2024. Kai chose to join Restoration and Research because he is passionate about creek ecology and overall ecological restoration. Kai hopes to use this experience in his pursuit of a career in environmental policy and applying the knowledge he has learned to future projects in park restoration.

Kate Forsman
Kate is from Los Altos California, and is pursuing a degree in environmental science with minors in biology and earth science, expecting to graduate in spring 2025. Kate chose to join Restoration and Research because of her interest in ecological restoration and desire to learn more about native pollinators. Kate hopes to use this experience in her pursuit of a research position related to environmental science and to apply the skills and knowledge of plant identification and restoration to future fieldwork projects.

Madison Schacht-Johnson
Madison is from Eugene, Oregon and is pursuing a degree in environmental studies with minors in nonprofit administration and anthropology, expecting to graduate in the spring of 2024. Madison chose to join Restoration and Research because she is passionate about ecological restoration, sustainable agriculture, pollinator subsistence, and anthropological connections to nature. Madison hopes to use this experience to continue onto graduate school in the environmental sphere, with an ultimate goal of continuing the stewardship of her local family land and establishing a sustainable/community farm in the Willamette Valley.

Nadav Kramer
Nadav Kramer is from Portland, Oregon and he is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in environmental science with a minor in sustainable business, expecting to graduate in the spring of 2024. Nadav chose to join the Restoration and Research team because of his interest in community ecology and anthecology. Nadav is interested in understanding the inner workings of the hive mind in relation to pollinator-plant relationships. Nadav hopes to use this experience to become more knowledgeable and eventually contribute to further projects in the field of conservation biology.

Shelly Seymour
Shelly is from San Jose, California and she is pursuing a degree in Environmental Science with a Sustainable Business Minor, expecting to graduate in the spring of 2024. Shelly chose to join Restoration and Research because of her interest in ecology, conservation, habitat restoration, and community interactions between native and invasive plant species. Shelly hopes to use this experience to further her understanding of ecosystem dynamics and management strategies, with the ultimate goal of developing innovative solutions to address restoration challenges.

Lydia Lapporte
GE Project Manager
Lydia is the GE for Restoration and Research. She is an MA student in the Environmental Studies program and is studying legal geographies of water in California. She is interested in algae’s role as a storyteller in narratives about water quality in the case of harmful algal blooms and bull kelp decline. She has experience in riparian restoration and ecological agriculture and is glad to support ELP's Restoration and Research team.

Peg Boulay
ELP Co-Director
Peg is a wildlife ecologist with a broad, applied background in research, conservation, management, planning, policy, and communications. As ELP co-director, she creates undergraduate courses and experiential learning projects focused on conservation science (e.g., habitat restoration, conservation planning, and environmental monitoring) and science communication (e.g., interpretive materials and creative expression). She emphasizes participatory, field-based teaching methods through which students can learn from community members and each other. She has won multiple teaching awards including UO’s Thomas F. Herman Faculty Achievement Award and Sustainability Teaching Award. Before joining UO, she worked in the public sector as a wildlife biologist. Though she has experience with a variety of taxa, she has worked extensively with large carnivore and migratory bird issues.

Douglas Fir
ELP Restoration & Research MVP
Douglas lives at Whitewater Ranch with his parents Jim and Jane. He loves to eat grass and lounge in the shade of trees, blueberry bushes, or Jim's jeep. Douglas also love the attention from other team members and will often wait over by the water tap for friends to come by and visit him.
